Stress Ball!

When I was young, Christmas was a big deal in my house. And when it was all over, my Dad would get really down. You know, you had this huge event with an enormous build up and then it’s just….over.

I never really  understood what was going on until I experienced it firsthand. Whenever I have done a big event in music or Triathlon, I get pretty down afterwards. The stress of getting ready for an important performance (or an Ironman!) has to go somewhere after the gig. For me, it turns into aches and pains and the blues.

Bonegasm debuted at the end of July but this past month, I was fortunate to have some distractions to mitigate my normal pattern. I was part of two recording projects as well as getting some exciting news about a third so it wasn’t until the middle of the month where it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I was sad, exhausted, nauseous, lightheaded – I even had a bunch of tests to make sure nothing was wrong. I am self diagnosing- I think it was all the stress leaving my body. Good and bad stress.

It’s important to take care of your body when you are faced with stress. Exercise, sleep, vitamins. Maybe consider drinking less or not at all. Take time to connect with people outside of social media. Feed your soul when you are feeding your ambition.

I’m learning how to take better care of myself in these situations and I hope you do too.

Low notes,

Jen
